Begonia rex 'Chayo'

Begonia rex ‘Chayo’ is a vibrant and expressive cultivar with deep purple to burgundy leaves, tinged with bright pink streaks and silver accents. The textured, spiralled foliage has a velvety finish and high contrast colouring that makes it a standout in any houseplant collection. Light
Bright, indirect light will keep the leaf colour vibrant. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the leaves. Will tolerate moderate light but colours may fade.

Water
Water when the top 2–3cm of soil is dry. Keep lightly moist but never soggy. Sensitive to overwatering – avoid letting it sit in water.

Humidity
Prefers higher humidity (50–60%+). Great for bathrooms, terrariums, or near humidifiers. Avoid misting directly on the leaves, which can cause spotting.

Soil
Use a light, well-draining mix – an aroid or houseplant compost with added perlite works well. Good drainage is key to prevent root and rhizome rot.

Food
Feed every 3–4 weeks in the growing season with a diluted balanced fertiliser. Avoid overfeeding in winter.

Temp
