Chico Strawberry Fig

Chico Strawberry produces loads of small to medium sized very sweet yellow figs starting in early September in eastern PA. Because its fruit ripens in early September, Chico Strawberry is known as a late-blooming fig. It is hardy enough to live outdoors year round. Its outer appearance is yellow in color, and its interior is an appetizing light red. The flavor is described as sweet and peachy. One distinct characteristic of Chico Strawberry is its red ostiole, a round spot at the bottom of the fig. The ostiole is an opening through which wasps can enter to pollinate the fruit. On the Chico Strawberry these red dots stand out against the yellow skin to give a beautiful spotted look to the fig tree.

When do we ship cuttings?

Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):

We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.

**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.

Rooted Cuttings(Spring):

We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
