Kettle River garlic is a heirloom softneck that was discovered near the Kettle River in the Pacific Northwest in the 20th century. It is a rare artichoke variety only found in specialty shops and farmers markets. It boasts the great storability typical of a softneck, but it also has the rich flavour and spice of hardnecks--truly the best of both worlds! If growing a sizable softneck has been a challenge in the past, Kettle River Giant may well be the variety that puts an end to the struggle. With the right conditions, they can grow up to 10cm (4") across.
