Lampeira 1 has great reviews as a delicious and productive fig! It originally comes from Thierry, the French fig collector of Figues de Monde. The trees are vigorous growers and highly productive. They bear small to medium size fruits (about 30-40 grams each) and 5-lobed leaves. Lampeira 1 trees produce both a breba and a main crop. The variety is cold hardy and the fall-ripening figs have good enough attachment to be able to dry on the tree.
They have a round shape, and when cut you can see the rich red pulp inside. The pulp has a rich and jammy texture and caramel sweetness. Growers have ranked the taste up there with Black Madeira and some of the other most popular dark figs. Lampeira 1 has a really nice mouth feel that coats the mouth and leaves a lasting flavor.

When do we ship cuttings?
Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):
We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.
**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.
Rooted Cuttings(Spring):
We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
