Medici #1 Fig

Medici #1 figs are enticing Italian figs that are sometimes known as Medici "HR," which stands for "Hunting Reserve" or "Historic Reserve." These ancient varieties may go back hundreds of years, as the family of wealthy bankers and politicians dates back to the 1400s.

Medici #1 is sought after for its pomegranate flavor. The berry figs have a unique flavor and acidity that reminds tasters of delicious pomegranate fruits. The fruits are small in size and covered with yellow skin that may have hints of red. Inside, the red pulp is soft, light, and sweet. Aside from some background info about Medici #1's origins, there is not much information about the taste or growing abilities of this variety. Medici #1 trees grow small, round figs and 5-lobed leaves.

When do we ship cuttings?

Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):

We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.

**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.

Rooted Cuttings(Spring):

We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
