The name Narcissus ‘Jack Sparrow’ conjures the captain in the film series ‘Pirates of the Caribbean,’ but Daffodil aficionados will recognize it as a reference to Narcissus ‘Jack Snipe,’ a beloved but too fragile favorite no longer in wide cultivation. Narcissus ‘Jack Sparrow’ has a sturdier constitution while sharing its sibling’s good looks, the sparkling clear white petals with a gold corona that glimmers like pirate’s gold. Early.
Small-cupped Daffodils have one flower to a stem and a cup that is never more than one-third the length of their perianth segments. The miniatures are petite beauties that grow no higher than 6″ and are ideal for rock gardens, perennializing, the front of borders, niches between tree roots, and forcing. They're also lovely in patio containers if protected from freezing north of Zone 7.
