Tavout Jabout Fig

Tavout Jabout trees are known to be vigorous growers that produce one crop of figs. While the trees are fast-growing, some growers note that it may take a couple of years to produce fruit on young trees. Although not much is known about the tree's origins, it is said that an Algerian native brought this variety to the San Francisco Bay area. The Algerian gave a cutting to a neighboring fig-enthusiast who spread Tavout Jabout to the wider fig community.

The unique coloring is enough to attract some fig enthusiasts to Tavout Jabout because it is almost sunset-like. Tavout Jabout has red pulp and is filled with dense and sticky honey. The skin is soft and good for eating. Tavout Jabout figs are small in size and have a closed eye.

When do we ship cuttings?

Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):

We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.

**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.

Rooted Cuttings(Spring):

We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
