Yalta Red Fig

Yalta Red figs have a drop shape and will often have some crackling on the skin. The skin is really nice for eating: it’s thick and chewy, but not tough so it is easy to bite into. Yalta Red figs have red pulp with a mild berry flavor. They have seed crunch which gives them a good, crunchy texture.

Yalta Red is part of the Crimea collection that comes from Eric, known as Evdurtschi on the fig forums. Eric’s reputation as an avid fig collector encouraged his mother’s neighbor to gift Eric 5 fig cuttings from her hometown of Yalta, Crimea along the Black Sea. Out of the red, green, and purple figs that grew from these cuttings, Yalta Red is a standout among the collection. It is a common variety, not requiring wasp pollination. Described as a top-tier fig, Yalta Red is a delicious red fig to add to your collection.

When do we ship cuttings?

Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):

We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.

**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.

Rooted Cuttings(Spring):

We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
